Dinesh Karthik Backs Suryakumar Yadav despite consecutive Golden Ducks

Dinesh Karthik Backs Suryakumar Yadav despite consecutive Golden Ducks: On the ongoing series between India and Australia. Australian pacer Mitchell Starc bowled out Suryakumar Yadav with a similar delivery.

However, Former Indian wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik has backed SKY despite registering consecutive ducks against Australia in the first two ODIs.

Australian team level up the three-match ODI series. Indian team collapsed just 117 runs, SKY departed for a golden duck for the second consecutive time in the ODI series as Mitchell Starc got the better of him.

Dinesh Karthik came out in support of the Indian batter that it can happen to anybody.

“Imagine Suryakumar Yadav, I feel for him, two first-balls, I’m sure a lot of people will be saying, ‘Oh, he’s not making use of his opportunities’. It’s not true. To get out the first ball means you are out before you’re set. It can happen to anybody,” Karthik told Cricbuzz.

“He (Mitchell Starc) is arguably the best white-ball bowler in the world right now. To come and receive such balls first up, it’s hard. You put anybody there, more often than not, they will get out first ball. We need to cut some slack for batters who get out to quality left-armers,” he added.

The talismanic right-hander has been exceptional in the T20Is, however, he has been unable to replicate his form in the One-Day format. Moreover, in 22 ODIs, the Mumbai-born batter has an underwhelming average of 25.47 with 433 runs and only two fifties under his belt.

T20 World Cup India's Squad 2024: 8 Cricketers Who will miss Selection from 2022 Squad

T20 World Cup India’s Squad 2024: The BCCI is going to announce the deadline to reveal the T20 World Cup Squad. However, India’s Squad for 2024 edition will become key point.

Many social media reports claims that at least 10 cricketers have been earmarked as a sure-shot selection in the squad while there are still quite a few spots up for grabs.

Interestingly, given that the World Cup is being held in the USA and the West Indies, India may be bringing a big team, adding five players to the existing 15-man roster.

India has not taken home a trophy since the competition’s inception in 2007 and has only advanced to the final once, in Bangladesh in 2014, where they were defeated by Sri Lanka.

India was destroyed by eventual victors England in the semi-final of the most recent edition, which was held in Australia in 2022, losing by a 10-wicket margin.

It’s interesting to note that at least seven players from India’s 2022 T20 World Cup roster may be traveling to the Caribbean this time, while at least eight other players have either lost favor or are injured.

Here are some of the players from India’s T20 World Cup 2022 roster that might not make the team for the T20 World Cup 2024.

India’s T20 World Cup 2022 squad was this:

Rohit Sharma (C), KL Rahul (VC), Dinesh Karthik (WK), Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant (WK), Suryakumar Yadav, Ravichandran Ashwin, Deepak Hooda, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Harshal Patel

From the above squad, the skipper Rohit Sharma will travel to the Caribbean at the same capacity while Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh are more or less certain to feature in this edition as well barring any injuries.

But players like Harshal Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Deepak Hooda have lost the selectors’ favour and aren’t even in the running to be included in the team for the 2024 T20 World Cup.

With Kuldeep Yadav’s comeback, Ravichandran Ashwin, who was a member of the 2022 squad, is also probably going to be left out.

In large part due to Ravindra Jadeja’s disqualification from the competition, Axar Patel managed to secure a spot in the 2022 edition. Jadeja is fit this time around, and even though his play hasn’t exactly lit the IPL 2024 stage on fire, it seems almost a given that the Saurashtra all-rounder will make the team.

Though he won the Purple Cap in 2022 and is India’s top wicket-taker in Twenty20 Internationals, Yuzvendra Chahal is an intriguing choice because he hasn’t participated in a single Twenty20 World Cup for his country.

Strangely, despite being selected for the 2022 edition, he did not appear in the playing XI at all throughout the competition. He was not selected for the 2020 edition.

Pacer Mohammad Shami is another player who will be missing out. He has had surgery to treat his injury, and BCCI secretary Jay Shah has indicated that he may be back for the Bangladesh Test.

Nonetheless, Mohammad Siraj, who will replace Harshal Patel in the previous team, and Jasprit Bumrah, who had an injury during the 2022 edition, will be included in the 2024 roster.

One other name that could miss out from the 2022 squad is Dinesh Karthik. But with the kind of form he is in for RCB as a finisher, it will be very intriguing to see if DK’s final mad dash earns him a spot this year as well.

Expected Squad for T20 World Cup 2024:

Rohit Sharma (C), Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant (WK), Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya (VC), Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammad Siraj, Avesh Khan, Sanju Samson (WK), Shubman Gill

MI Skipper Hardik Pandya Gives A Big Statement After Loss Against CSK: Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya grabed Dhoni's game plan, highlighting the unseen influence he exerts from behind the stumps for CSK.

MI Skipper Hardik Pandya Gives A Big Statement After Loss Against CSK: Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya grabed Dhoni’s game plan, highlighting the unseen influence he exerts from behind the stumps for CSK.

Hardik Pandya noted all the incident during their chase of 207 runs. However, MI lost by 20 runs as a result of Matheesha Pathirana’s brilliant four-wicket effort, which changed the tide. Ruturaj Gaikwad, the skipper of CSK, repeated Pandya’s words, complimenting Dhoni on his significant 4-ball-20 and highlighting the young wicketkeeper’s important sixes.

Hardik Pandya said: “It (target) was definitely gettable, but they bowled pretty well. Pathirana was the difference. They were smart with the plans and their approach. They got the hang of it, there’s a man behind the stumps (Dhoni) who tells them what’s working, and that helps. It (pitch) was holding up a bit and getting difficult.”

“It was about batting well and keeping the intent. We were going quite well (in the run chase) till Pathirana came into the attack and took those two wickets. It was about what is best at that time, we could have done something different. I like to play percentage cricket, it would have been difficult for him (Dube) against seamers rather than spin. We are on the road for the next four games, need to play good cricket, need to keep the intensity high.”

Gaikwad also provided insight into the tactical choices taken throughout the game by talking about the calculated decision to choose Ajinkya Rahane as the opening batsman.

Overall, Dhoni’s strategic prowess and the critical moments that affected the game’s outcome were acknowledged by both captains.

Gaikwad said: “I would have taken 6 overs 60 at the powerplay. You need to be on the mark with bowling and batting at this venue. Our Malinga bowled really well today, he nailed those yorkers. Not to forget, Tushar and Shardul also did well. (On plans ahead) I think we need to keep it simple, encourage all to be in a good headspace and continue the same way. Jinks was carrying a bit of a niggle, so thought it was better for him to open. I’m fine batting anywhere, plus it is the added responsibility as the team captain.”
