Babar Azam Isn’t A Leader Like Sarfaraz Ahmed – Imad Wasim

Babar Azam Isn’t A Leader Like Sarfaraz Ahmed – Imad Wasim: All-rounder Imad Wasim, a veteran of the Pakistan National Cricket Team, has been blunt about captain Babar Azam, stating that he is not a good leader and just conducts ordinary leadership.

The Men In Green suffered in the 2023 Asia Cup and ICC Cricket World Cup, both under Babar Azam’s guidance. The Asia Cup Super Four points table showed that Babar Azam & Co. came in last.

Pakistan had a strong start to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2022 with a pair of solid wins, but a losing run soon threatened their hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals. The “qudrat ka nizam” must unleash their full might if the Men in Green are to secure the last semi-final spot.

Meanwhile, Imad Wasim recently shared his views on Babar Azam’s captaincy. He said that Babar is not a good leadership figure like Sarfaraz Ahmed and Younis Khan.

‘Babar Azam did normal captaincy, but he is not a leader. There are captains but then there are leaders too! Babar isn’t a leader like Sarfaraz Ahmed and Younis Khan,” Imad Wasim said.

Imad Wasim, an all-round player, was dropped out of Pakistan’s World Cup team despite the support of a number of experts due to his skills. Imad, who was excluded from the team, has assumed the position of TV expert.

This didn’t go well with the Pakistan bowling legend Wasim Akram, who took an indirect dig at Imad for not sweating it out in domestic cricket and becoming a television expert.

“The players who are busy with the Pakistan team are fine but what about others? A couple of them are sitting on television and they want to play for Pakistan. How is that possible?, Akram said.

New Zealand Cricketer Colin Munro Announces His Retirement From international Cricket

New Zealand Cricketer Colin Munro Announces His Retirement From international Cricket: New Zealand opener batsman Colin Munro has announced his retirement from international cricket. The aggressive batsman from New Zealand, who scored over 3000 runs in international cricket, has not played for the national side in the last four years; his last game was a Twenty20 international against India in 2020.

He begun his international career in Dec 2012, followed by ODI debut in the same month. While he only played one Test match in January 2013, he was predominantly recognized as a specialist in white-ball cricket.

He played in 123 matches in all forms for New Zealand during his career, scoring more over 3000 runs. Interestingly, Munro is the only batter from New Zealand to score three hundred in Twenty20 Internationals.

He was a member of the side that placed second in the ODI World Cup in 2019 and made contributions to the T20 World Cup squads in 2014 and 2016.

Munro has been focusing on franchise cricket worldwide and cited his absence from the 2024 T20 World Cup squad as the reason for his retirement.

“Playing for the BLACKCAPS has always been the biggest achievement in my playing career,” the 37-year-old said. “I never felt prouder than donning that jersey, and the fact that I’ve been able to do that 123 times across all formats is something I will always be incredibly proud of.”

“Although it has been a while since my last appearance, I never gave up hope that I might be able to return off the back of my franchise T20 form. With the announcement of the BLACKCAPS squad for the T20 World Cup now is the perfect time to close that chapter officially.”

“Colin was one of our first players to embrace the aggressive, 360-degree style batting that is now accepted all around the world as best practice,” he said. “He was one of the pioneers of the new game, an innovative batsman who took calculated risk-taking to a new level, and led what was to become a revolution in the way short-form cricket was played.”

“We thank him for his amazing contribution in more than 100 international games, and wish him well in his future pursuits.”
