Netherlands Announces Swiggy Delivery Boy as a Net Bowler for World Cup 2023

Netherlands Announces Swiggy Delivery Boy as a Net Bowler for World Cup 2023: Four net bowlers have been chosen by the Netherlands cricket team to assist them at their pre-World Cup training camp in Alur. One of the four net bowlers, Lokesh Kumar, will use his chinaman bowling to aid the Dutch team’s preparation for the next ODI World Cup 2023.

Cricket Netherlands posted a social media ad a few days ago asking for net bowlers to help them in the nets. The Dutch board selected four Indian men to join them in the nets after being overwhelmed by the response.

One of the four net bowlers is Chennai’s Lokesh Kumar who comes in as a Chinaman bowler. And as learned from the official handle of the Netherlands cricket board, the 29-year-old spinner delivers food for Swiggy for a living.

While the likes of Indian cricket team, Australian cricket team, defending champions England, Pakistan among others will be favourite, the smaller teams at the Cricket World Cup like Netherlands will be no pushover. They can upset any team on their day at the Cricket World Cup. Recently, Netherlands team put out an advertisement for four net bowlers. They were recently announced and hail from different parts of India.

One among them is Lokesh Kumar from Chennai. According to aTimes of India report, Lokesh is a food delivery executive with Swiggy. And now he will bowl to the Netherlands team at the nets ahead of the Cricket World Cup. “I played in the fifth division for four years. I have registered with fourth division outfit Indian Oil RO (S&RC) for the current season. After being picked by the Netherlands team as a net bowlers I feel, my talent has been recognised,” Lokesh said.

“Thank you for the overwhelming response to our net bowlers hunt, India. Here the 4 names who will be part of the team’s #CWC23 preparations,” wrote the caption.

“This is one of the most precious moments of my career. I am yet to even play in the TNCA third division league. I played in the fifth division for four years and I have registered for fourth-division outfit Indian Oil (RO) S&RC for the ongoing season. After being picked by the Netherlands as a net bowler, I feel that my talent has finally been recognised,” Lokesh told TOI.

“The Netherlands team members welcomed me with open arms; there was an induction ceremony for the net bowlers before the beginning of the session. The players told us: ‘feel free, this is your team’. I already feel that I am part of the Dutch family,” Lokesh added.

“After seeing the advertisement, I was keen to give it a try. I felt that I would have an edge over others as there are not many chinaman bowlers in the country. Netherlands were looking for a mystery spinner. So, I decided to give it a try.”

“After my college days, my entire focus was on cricket. I spent four years on cricket. In 2018, I decided to take up a job. I have been with Swiggy for the last four years. I earn money only by delivering food; I do not have any other source of income. The work timings are flexible and I can take leave whenever I want to. We usually have TNCA league matches only on the weekends, so I work during the weekdays.”

Watch: MS Dhoni denies Handshakes With RCB Cricketers, Virat Kohli Then Does This

MS Dhoni denies Handshakes With RCB Cricketers, Virat Kohli Then Does This: Was MS Dhoni’s match versus Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 his final one? Certainly, the cricket community hopes that isn’t the case.

Particularly when he struck a six off the first ball of the match’s last over, Dhoni was supposed to finish the game.

However, Yash Dayal of RCB scored on the second delivery to remove the former captain of CSK and turn the tide of the match in his team’s favor.

On social media, a depressing video has surfaced that shows Dhoni skipping the post-match handshakes with RCB players and going back to the dressing room.

When the RCB players finished their celebration and shook hands with the CSK players, Dhoni, who hasn’t been totally fit the whole season, was in front of the line. But after a little period, Dhoni made the decision to head back to the dressing room.

Although it’s unclear if Dhoni and the RCB playing XI shook hands afterwards, the seasoned wicketkeeper batting decided to head back to the dressing room at that particular moment rather than waiting for the players of the other team.

In another video, it can be seen that Virat Kohli went after Dhoni to the dressing room, probably to shake hands with him after missing out on the same during their time on the field.

MS Dhoni to Announce Retirement Soon? Former CSK Cricketer Says 'There is a Reason…'

MS Dhoni to Announce Retirement Soon? Former CSK Cricketer Says ‘There is a Reason…’: Chennai Super Kings’ IPL 2024 campaign comes to a sad end on Saturday as they were defeated by Royal Challengers Bengaluru by an aggregate score of 27 runs.

The topic of discussion ever since the loss and CSK’s elimination from the IPL this year has been whether MS Dhoni would declare his retirement or whether the seasoned wicketkeeper will return for one final game in the IPL 2025.

According to pundit and former CSK batsman Robin Uthappa, Dhoni will return to the Yellow uniform for the next IPL season.

In an interaction with JioCinema, Uthappa said, “I don’t think we have seen the last of MS. He is not someone who takes these things lightly. He will come back roaring for sure,” Uthappa said while speaking on JioCinema.

“Even with the narrative, I have seen him bat only in the last 4 or 5 overs, there is a reason for it. He had a calf injury which they initially thought perhaps was a niggle, but it was a little more grave than that. Because of that, he had to manage himself and often as he does, in international cricket and for CSK, he figured out a way to be useful and contribute to CSK,” the former CSK batter added.

Notably, Dhoni’s 25-run (off 13 balls) innings on Saturday gave CSK a chance to compete against RCB. Ultimately, CSK required 17 runs from the last over in order to go to the playoffs. As he has so often done in the past, MS Dhoni opened the over with a huge six to put rookie Yash Dayal under strain.

But the left-hander bounced back, dismissing Dhoni and adding a dot ball and a single in the next over. Then, CSK needed 10 runs in only two balls, but Yash Dayal’s slower deliveries were too much for a well-conditioned Ravindra Jadeja to handle.
