Rohit Sharma’s Name Not Include in 16-Member India Team List: “Forced Retirement?” – This is not a right hint for Rohit Sharma, as he missed the fifth Test against Australia in Sydney.
When Jasprit Bumrah had gone for the toss, he won the toss and decided to bat against the Australian team.
This Test will decide, for India whether they qualify for or not for the World Test Championship.

In this tournament, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma just scored 31 runs in five innings. There was a growing feeling that his end was near.
During those innings, the 37-year-old white-ball legend appeared to be a pale shell of his former self, finding it difficult to execute even his bread-and-butter strokes, such as the signature front foot pull.
During the customary pre-match warm-up session, Rohit was seen playing football with Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Sarfaraz Khan, who is ending the series without getting a game.
Following this, Rohit was observed conversing with Hari Prasad, the team’s video analyst. Before Bumrah emerged to a thunderous cheer from the packed house, he departed the outfield just before the toss time.

When the TV cameras panned on him, Rohit was seen sitting outside the dressing room with fielding coach Ryan Ten Doeschate by his side. Head coach Gautam Gambhir sat a distance from the duo. Interestingly, Rohit’s name was missing from team sheet that has the names of all players available, including substitutes and reserves. Only injured Akash Deep and Rohit’s names were missing.

“So typical of Rohit Sharma. Doing the right thing, doing what’s right for the team. But could not understand the ‘cloak & dagger’ around the issue. Wasn’t even talked about at the toss,” he posted on ‘X’.
After India lost the fourth Test in Melbourne to go down 1-2 in the five-match series, rumors over his future in the longest format also intensified.
Rohit’s least successful year in Test cricket was 2024, when he amassed 619 runs in 26 innings across 14 games at an average of 24.76.
Although Rohit led India to a much-anticipated T20 World Cup victory last year, his performance in the conventional format significantly declined.

His longtime teammate and former captain Virat Kohli is also facing criticism for his repeated dismissals outside the off-stump in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy thus far.
