Shooter Rahi Sarnobat gets Gold in 25 Metre Pistol Event

Shooter Rahi Sarnobat posted Inida’s first golf on the medal tally on Day 4 of the Asian Games 2018, when she won the woman’s 25 metre Pistol event after tense double shoot off.

Rahi Sarnobatwas tied at 34 with rival from Thailand at the end of the main round and the two were then tied 4-4 after first shoot off round of five shots each.

in the second round, Rahi Sarnobat managed three hits while her opponent managed only one, giving the Indian the first Asian Games gold by an Indian Female shooter.

it is one of the historic performance because she has now become the first Indian female shooter to win an indvidual Asian Games gold medal.

Shooting prodigy Manu Bhakar finished sixth, Rahi Sarnobat scored a record of 34 and Thailand’s Naphaswan Yangpaiboon gave a tough challenge.

in a heart stopping contest after both were tied at 34 points following 10 series of five shots each, taking it to a shoot off.

Both found the target four times in the shoot off, leading to another shoot off where Rahi Sarnobat shot three and the Thai tao, ensuring a historic golf for the Kohlapur born shooter.

Rahi Sarnobat was for the major part of the final and her first 10 shots were on target , she got a five even in the sixth series.

she is the second medalist from the Indian shooting contingent after 16 year old Saurabh Chaudhary had shot a gold in the 10m pistol finals on Tuesday.

Rahi Sarnobat is also the sixth Indian to shoot a gold at the Games, joining Chaudhary, Jaspal Rana, Randhit Singh, Jitu Rai and Ronjan Sodhi, her 34 in the finals also ended up as joint Games Record

Sarnobat become India’s first pistol shooter to win a gold in World Cup back in 2013, had suffered a serious elbow injury last year.
