Australian Media Trolls India After 46 Runs Collapse Against New Zealand: Cricket Australia poked fun at Rohit Sharma and company following Team India’s 46-run defeat to New Zealand in the opening Test match played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

On day two, bowlers Matt Henry and William O’Rourke of the Pacers wrecked havoc on India’s batting lineup by sharing nine wickets and bowling them out for just 46.

In an innings that featured five ducks, Rishabh Pant scored the most for the home team with 20 off 49. India now has the third-lowest Test score overall and the lowest total at home.

The lowest score India have ever scored at home against the West Indies was 75 in New Delhi in 1987. In a 2020 pink-ball Adelaide Test match against Australia, their lowest score to yet was 36.

Cricket Australia posted a clip of India’s 36-all victory in the 2020–21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy series on social media, mocking the team for their terrible batting collapse and asking, “Is ‘All Out 46’ the new ‘All Out 36’?”

Former England captain Michael Vaughan also trolled India and shared, “Look on the bright side Indian fans .. at least you have got past 36 ..”

Henry took five wickets in fifteen balls in an overcast day, showing remarkable control over length and line. He also achieved the milestone of 100 Test wickets.

While experienced bowler Tim Southee claimed a wicket, O’Rourke, playing in his debut Test in India, made a great impact with his tricky bounce and variety of lengths, claiming 4-22.

India lost without contributing much because they failed to demonstrate the necessary batting effort to slog it out against swing or seam in an environment that was strongly in favour of an accurate New Zealand bowling line-up and excellently supported by their fielders.

In an unfortunate Indian batting display riddled with five ducks, only Rishabh Pant (20) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (13) managed to reach double digits.

Virat Kohli Picks Ab de Villiers as The Most Talented Cricketer

Virat Kohli Picks Ab de Villiers as The Most Talented Cricketer: The captain of the Indian men’s cricket team, Rohit Sharma, and the great Sachin Tendulkar were disregarded by batting maestro Virat Kohli, who chose former South African batsman Ab de Villiers as the most gifted player he has ever played with.

From 2011 till 2021, ABD and Kohli, who has been a part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru from the IPL’s first season, shared a changing room.

In a letter for Ab de Villiers after he was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame on Wednesday (October 16), Virat wrote, “You are thoroughly deserving of your place—after all, the Hall of Fame is a representation of your impact on the game, and yours has been truly unique.”

“People have always spoken about your ability, and rightly so. You are the most talented cricketer I have played with, the absolute number one,” he added.

In the IPL, apart from RCB, he also played for the Delhi Capitals and finished his career with 5162 runs in 184 matches.

In One-Day Internationals, De Villiers is the player with the quickest century ever. On January 18, 2015, in a Johannesburg encounter against the West Indies, he reached the triple-figure mark in just 31 balls.

He also smashed the record for the fastest 150 in the game’s 50-over format on February 27, 2015, in the 2015 ODI World Cup match against the Men in Maroon in Sydney.

In the first quarterfinal encounter played on March 18 in Sydney, he captained South Africa in the 2015 ICC Men’s ODI World Cup, helping them win the first-ever World Cup knockout match by defeating Sri Lanka by nine wickets.

However, the Proteas were eliminated from the competition after losing to co-hosts New Zealand in Auckland in the first semi-final.

Pakistan Women Team Drops 8 Catches Against New Zealand Women: Support for the Pakistan women’s cricket team extended beyond their own nation when they faced New Zealand in the last group stage match of the T20 World Cup 2024.

The Pakistani squad was fortunate to have cross-border support on one of the rarest instances, since the Indian team’s prospects of qualifying for the semi-finals also depended on their neighbors.

But after that, Pakistan turned in one of the worst performances in the competition’s history, losing by 54 runs as a result of up to eight missed catches.

In 20 overs, Pakistan limited New Zealand to 110/6, but not before giving away an incredible eight catching opportunities and even two run-out opportunities. As the Kiwis continued to ride their luck, Pakistan’s Fatima Sana herself lost as many as four catches, the most of them routine.

Pakistan was bowled out for 56 because they were unable to control their opponents’ bowling despite needing to reach a target of 111 runs. This was due to their reckless style of play and poor shot selection. In the history of the Women’s T20 World Cup, this total is the second worst.

In an erratic display of cricket, especially in the field, even Pakistan’s former women’s team captain Sana Mir was stunned seeing the butterfingers display by her team.

“I’ve never seen this in 15 years of playing,” said Mir in the final over of the innings.

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana admitted in the post-match presentation ceremony that her team needs to improve fielding.

“We were good in the bowling but we need to improve our fielding and batting. We were not up to the mark in batting and the seniors need to step up in that kind of matches. As a bowling unit we were up to the mark, but we need to improve in batting, otherwise we can’t survive in women’s cricket,” she said.

Courtesy of New Zealand’s win, both India and Pakistan were knocked out of the semi-finals race.
