IPL 2020 Full Schedule: Mumbai Indians to play Chennai Super Kings in Opener

IPL 2020 Full Schedule: The full schedule of the group stage of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is out with all eight teams playing seven home matches at their respective home venues.

The high-profile tournament will start on March 29 with the 1st match to be played between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings and the final will be played on May 24.

The fixtures out so far are till the league matches with the schedule of the knockout yet to be announced.

The final, however, will be played on May 24, while the IPL 2020 opener will be a repeat of last year’s final, Mumbai Indians playing Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium on March 29.

According to ESPNcricinfo, IPL has done away with the Saturday double-headers, thereby adding another week to the league phase for the 2020 season. This means that the 13th edition of IPL will stretch across 50 days as compared to 44 last year. There will be only three matches on weekends with double-headers now only limited to Sundays.

The last match of the league phase is scheduled to be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians at the M Chinnaswamy stadium on May 17.

Except for Rajasthan Royals, who have listed out Guwahati as their probable second home venue, the other seven franchises have stuck to their traditional venues for home games.

The IPL governing council had decided against changing timings of the night games from 8 pm to 7.30 pm despite pressure from a few stakeholders. The afternoon matches will start at 4 pm IST, as usual.
