MI Skipper Hardik Pandya Gives A Big Statement After Loss Against CSK: Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya grabed Dhoni’s game plan, highlighting the unseen influence he exerts from behind the stumps for CSK.

Hardik Pandya noted all the incident during their chase of 207 runs. However, MI lost by 20 runs as a result of Matheesha Pathirana’s brilliant four-wicket effort, which changed the tide. Ruturaj Gaikwad, the skipper of CSK, repeated Pandya’s words, complimenting Dhoni on his significant 4-ball-20 and highlighting the young wicketkeeper’s important sixes.

Hardik Pandya said: “It (target) was definitely gettable, but they bowled pretty well. Pathirana was the difference. They were smart with the plans and their approach. They got the hang of it, there’s a man behind the stumps (Dhoni) who tells them what’s working, and that helps. It (pitch) was holding up a bit and getting difficult.”

“It was about batting well and keeping the intent. We were going quite well (in the run chase) till Pathirana came into the attack and took those two wickets. It was about what is best at that time, we could have done something different. I like to play percentage cricket, it would have been difficult for him (Dube) against seamers rather than spin. We are on the road for the next four games, need to play good cricket, need to keep the intensity high.”

Gaikwad also provided insight into the tactical choices taken throughout the game by talking about the calculated decision to choose Ajinkya Rahane as the opening batsman.

Overall, Dhoni’s strategic prowess and the critical moments that affected the game’s outcome were acknowledged by both captains.

Gaikwad said: “I would have taken 6 overs 60 at the powerplay. You need to be on the mark with bowling and batting at this venue. Our Malinga bowled really well today, he nailed those yorkers. Not to forget, Tushar and Shardul also did well. (On plans ahead) I think we need to keep it simple, encourage all to be in a good headspace and continue the same way. Jinks was carrying a bit of a niggle, so thought it was better for him to open. I’m fine batting anywhere, plus it is the added responsibility as the team captain.”

BCCI Showing Mayank Yadav Video of Haris Rauf: Pakistani sports writer Farid Khan has come under heavy fire from supporters for his forecast on Indian quick bowler Mayank Yadav.

In a widely shared video, Farid stated that Mayank would represent India in the T20 World Cup and that the management of the squad is preparing him for the June 9 match against Pakistan by showing him clips of bowler Haris Rauf from Pakistan.

Mayank has been creating waves for those who are unfamiliar with him since he made his IPL debut for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) last month.

With his blistering pace, Mayank has won over experts and former cricket players despite only having played two games. During Tuesday’s match against RCB, he bowled the fastest ball of the 2024 Indian Premier League, clocking in at 156.7.

Mayank has taken six wickets while allowing only 41 runs to be scored in two games. Many have predicted that the 21-year-old will feature for India in the upcoming months.

Speaking on Mayank, Farid claimed that former Pakistan bowling coach Morne Morkel, who is part of LSG’s support staff, is working on Mayank to get him ready for the T20 World Cup, especially for the game against India.

“Mayank Yadav will be part of India’s T20 World Cup squad. I assure you. You can take a screenshot of my post. India are getting him ready and he will play against Pakistan. BCCI is already showing him videos of Haris Rauf’s spell against India in the last T20 World Cup. Former Pakistan bowling coach Morne Morkel is at LSG, he is getting Mayank ready,” Farid said in a video posted by him on X (formerly Twitter).

Meanwhile, former India batter Manoj Tiwary said that if he was the selector, he would pick Mayank as India’s third-choice pacer after Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami.

“If I was in Ajit Agarkar’s position I would put him in. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami and then him. Looking at Mayank’s form, action and release it looks like he is in control and it feels like if you give him a bigger stage, he will deliver. With IPL where many overseas players do come in and get them out, your confidence will also go up,” Tiwary said in a discussion on Cricbuzz.
