“Really happy, credit goes to Abhishek Nayar, all the credit in the world, the way he’s worked for the franchise. Some contributions go unnoticed, I want to make sure they don’t. He was the one who built this Indian core. We waited for 10 years, credit to the management and the coaching staff,” Venkatesh Iyer said after the match.

This was KKR’s first IPL championship in ten years, and Gautam Gambhir served as their mentor. They have, incidentally, won the previous two titles with Gambhir at the helm.

“When GG bhai was appointed as the mentor I had messaged him and said I am very happy he’s coming back to KKR, but he said that he would be happy if we are on that podium lifting the trophy. Today is that day and I will never forget that message,” Nitish Rana said when asked about Gambhir’s impact.

Rinku Singh also echoed similar sentiments as the KKR players celebrated the victory.

MS Dhoni's Participation 'Still Not Final' for IPL 2025

MS Dhoni’s Participation ‘Still Not Final’ for IPL 2025: Former Indian captain MS Dhoni, played with CSK in the IPL, is still not confirmed to take part in the 2025 edition of the world’s richest franchise cricket league.

As per Cricbuzz, the legendary cricketer will meet the CSK officials later this month and convey his final decision.

“Chennai Super Kings continue to maintain that MS Dhoni’s participation in the upcoming season is still not final, and key officials from the franchise will meet with him before making a decision. Dhoni is expected to meet with CSK officials in mid-October in Mumbai, where he will likely convey his final decision,” the report said.

After CSK’s IPL 2024 campaign concluded, Dhoni, who had guided CSK to five IPL titles in the previous 17 years, was anticipated to end his IPL career. However, he chose not to do so, and since then, there have been doubts about his involvement in the IPL 2025.

At the 2008 IPL mega auction, Dhoni, who cost CSK Rs 6 million, became the mostcapped player in the history of the lucrative competition, amassing over 5000 runs.

Playing in ten finals, CSK has been led by him. Ruturaj Gaikwad, a 27-year-old right-handed top-order batsman, took over as captain after he resigned his position prior to the IPL 2024 season, although the 27-year-old was unable to assist in the team’s successful IPL 2023 championship defense.

The BCCI’s announcement under the new uncapped player rule for IPL 2024 that players such as Dhoni, who have not played international cricket for more than five years, can be classed as ‘uncapped’ and kept for a fee of Rs 4 crore, increased Dhoni’s prospects of participating in the IPL.

The former Indian captain, who has also won three ICC titles, has yet to announce his participation in the IPL 2025, despite the belief of many fans and previous greats of the game that the uncapped player rule was reinstated to ensure Dhoni’s participation.

IPL Chairmen Reveals The Reason Behind Rs 18Cr Cap for Overseas Players

IPL Chairmen Reveal The Reason Behind Rs 18Cr Cap for Overseas Cricketers: IPL Governing Council revealed Rules for overseas cricketers. The BCCI has now put checks and measures in place to prevent cricketers from misusing the system.

Select England and Australian cricketers have time and again ditched their franchise after getting picked at the auction, often citing fatigue and other priorities.

In light of this, the BCCI now intends to ban players who quit after being selected at the auction for two years.

In particular, international celebrities are not eligible to participate in an auction for a further two years if they do not register during that year.

No foreign player may make more money than the top retained or sold player in the mega auction (whichever is lower).

This rule will also be in effect starting with the IPL 2026 mini-auction. The new rule’s rationale, according to IPL chairman Arun Dhumal, is to maximize the number of players available at the larger auction.

Talking to Indian Express, he said, “If a player has been picked up at a higher value vis-a-vis Rs 18 crore per say, the player gets only Rs 18 crore and the rest of the amount will come back to the league to the BCCI and would be utilised for players’ welfare. The idea is to make the maximum number of players available at the bigger auction because that is when the franchises can plan a team for three years in advance.”

The possible two-year ban that foreign stars may face if they decide to exit from the IPL after being sold at the big auction was another question posed to the IPL chairman. According to him, “It has come to our observation that at times players are not making themselves available for bigger auctions but are coming at the smaller auction so that they can get a better value.”
