Needing 157 runs to win, MI were off to a quick start before Deepak Chahar dismissed Quinton de Kock in the third over, courtesy a brilliant DRS call from MS Dhoni.
MI kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Anmolpreet Singh fell in the 5th over against Chahar while Suryakumar Yadav depart in the 6th over against Shardul Thakur.
While Kieron Pollard, who was captaining MI in the absence of Rohit Sharma, and Tiwary added 29 runs together, CSK managed to push MI on the backfoot as Josh Hazlewood got Pollard out LBW and Bravo ran Krunal Pandya out to reduce MI to 94/6.

After Pollards’ wicket, Krunal Pandya came on to the crease but was run out in the 15th over. Adam Milne, Rahul Chahar and Tiwary tried their level best but MI fell short by 20 runs. Tiwary scored 50 runs in 40 balls with the help of 5 boundaries.
Saurabh Tiwary held one end but the five-time champions lacked the firepower from the other end with Suryakumar Yadav (3), Ishan Kishan (11), Kieron Pollard (14) and Krunal Pandya (4) failing to get going.
For Chennai Super Kings, Dwayne Bravo (3/ 25), Deepak Chahar (2/19), Shardul Thakur (1/29), and Josh Hazlewood (1/34) shared the spoils.
Chennai Super Kings displaced Delhi Capitals from top of the points table. Mumbai Indians were missing two of their big players in regular skipper Rohit Sharma and all-rounder Hardik Pandya
