Wasim Akram Critizes Sikander Bhakt's Allegations of Toss-Fixing Against Rohit Sharma

Wasim Akram Critizes Sikander Bhakt’s Allegations of Toss-Fixing Against Rohit Sharma: After India defeated New Zealand in the semi-final, Sikandar Bakht made accusations that Rohit Sharma had engaged in toss-fixing. An infuriated Wasim Akram strongly objected to these accusations.

The claims made by former Pakistani cricket player Bakht against Indian skipper Rohit Sharma have drawn attention.

Bakht said that Sharma acted suspiciously during the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup by purposefully tossing the coin far away from the captain of the opposition.

Bakht implies that this may be a planned move to sway the results in India’s advantage by preventing the other captain from confirming the conclusion of the toss.

Following India’s victory against New Zealand in the Mumbai semifinal, Bakht’s accusations became public. On a field that was ideal for batting, India won the toss and proceeded to score a scorching 397/4, winning by 70 runs.

The 66-year-old former fast bowler for Pakistan, who has an incredible record of 100 wickets in fewer than 50 international matches, revealed his conspiracy notion on a news channel program.

In an attempt to sway judgments in favor of the Indian side, he alluded to possible conspiracy between the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over Sharma’s coin toss method.

In response, in an interview with A Sports, Akram angrily rejected Bhakt’s assertions. The famed sprinter made it clear that the mat is only there for sponsorship and that there are no set guidelines for where the coin should rest. Akram further conveyed his shame at the discovery of such baseless accusations.

The 57-year-old said, “Who says ki coin ne kaha land karna hai? Ye kisne kaha hai ki usne waha par coin fenkna hai? Vo toh sponsorship ke liye hai, dikhane ke liye hai. Kahi bhi chala jaye. I feel embarrassed (Who decides where the coin should land? It is just for sponsorship! I feel embarrassed).”

Bakht had remarked before, “May I offer you a conspiracy theory? Rohit Sharma tosses the coin well beyond the reach of any opposing captain at the toss, making it impossible for the skipper to go back and double-check the call.

The Indian squad has been the target of accusations from former cricket players from Pakistan before. Hasan Raza, for example, claimed that the Indian bowlers were receiving specially made balls with more swing power from the ICC.

Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has sad that Pakistan may take the big step of boycotting ICC events if India do not go to Pakistan this time.

Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa, and reigning champions Pakistan are among the countries that will compete in the Champions Trophy, which will be divided into two groups of four.

“If it is a bilateral series or Asia Cup, then the teams are asked, whether India wants to play or not. This is an ICC event. The cycle has been signed from 2024-2031. All the broadcasters and sponsors have signed about the teams that will participate in the Champions Trophy or the World Cup,” Latif said during the Geo News show.

“If a team denies to participate, they need to have a solid reason to justify their call. Just like in 1996, the West Indies and Australia did not go to Sri Lanka but still reached the final. If you make a reason for security, then it is not a solid reason. Teams like Australia, New Zealand, England, and South Africa are coming to Pakistan. They want to come to Pakistan,” he added

“ICC is existing only because there is Pakistan and India. If the government of Pakistan also says like India that we won’t play, then the ICC will be of no use as no one will watch the match,” Rashid said.

“We can say that India does not want to play bilateral matches, but you can’t deny the ICC events as you already have signed it. India has to make solid ground. If India doesn’t come this time, Pakistan will take a big step by not participating in the tournament,” he added.
