Rohit Sharma's Message "No One Should Have Personal Preferences"

Rohit Sharma’s Message “No One Should Have Personal Preferences” for Players Ahead of World Cup 2023: Rohit Sharma, India’s captain, said that having a true fast bowler like Hardik Pandya will allow India to consider fielding three specialized spinners during the World Cup.

The first match is against Australia on Sunday. Kuldeep Yadav, Ravichandran Ashwin, and slow left-arm orthodox Ravindra Jadeja are all left-arm wrist spinners for India, and Rohit hinted that all three may be included in the starting XI in Chepauk, which occasionally has a sticky surface.

Asked if he is going on playing the troika of slow operators, Rohit replied: “Yeah, I mean that’s the luxury we have where we can afford to play three spinners because I don’t really consider Hardik Pandya as just a seamer,” said Rohit in his pre-match press meet.

“He (Hardik) is a proper fast bowler, who can crank up good speed. So, that gives us an advantage. That gives us that luxury of playing three spinners and three seamers as well. So, there’s a possibility of that,” he added.

“It gives us that balance; gives us that number eight batting option as well. We have to come here again tomorrow afternoon and see what the pitch looks like but yeah, three spinners is definitely an option,” said Rohit.

Rohit said nine or ten players, according to fitness, will play in every game, with the best playing eleven depending on the conditions of the match since he believes in consistency in playing eleven.

“We definitely want to be a team where we want to play the best 11, but you can pick your best 11 based on the conditions that you have in front of you. Where there is a bit of assistance to the slower bowlers, you need to bring in those slower bowlers.

“So, your core of the team will remain the same. Your 8, 9, 10 players will remain the same. There will be one or two changes here and there, which you’ve got to be ready to accept and take it into your stride and move forward.” Rohit was categorical in his feeling that the World Cup is not a place for personal preferences.

“No one should have personal preferences. It’s the team that matters and the team’s goal that matters.”

India still have some middle-order puzzle as to when they can unleash a gun player like Suryakumar Yadav.

How does the team assess which conditions to use Shreyas Iyer or SKY? “Look, in terms of playing in these conditions, there’s a huge amount of experience. They’ve played so much cricket, they know how to play. It is not for me to assess that.

“It is for them to assess that in the middle and then you give them that freedom and clarity that this is what we want from you. Now how you do it, it is completely up to you.”

While Rohit officially maintained that Shubman Gill, who is down with dengue, is still not ruled out, he gave enough indications that the young opener is unlikely to get fit for Sunday’s game.

“No, it doesn’t worry. I mean obviously he is sick. I feel for him. But in terms of, you know, me being the human being first, I want him to get well, not the captain thinking, oh, I want Gill to play tomorrow. No, I want him to get well,” Rohit answered to a query about how worried he is about his opening partner.

Indian Skipper Rohit Sharma Reveals How Rishabh Pant's Tactics Helped India Win T20 World Cup

Indian Skipper Rohit Sharma Reveals How Rishabh Pant’s Tactics Helped India to Win T20 World Cup: Rohit Sharma has now revealed that Rishabh Pant’s tactics played a big role in India’s win, explain in the Kapil Sharma Show.

T20 World Cup 2024 final is still fresh in the minds of cricketing fans. If we talk about Surya’s catch, Bumrah’s Death bowling, or King Kohli’s half-century.

There are many factors that helped India beat South Africa in the final match.

Rohit revealed that wicket-keeper batsment Rishabh Pant thought of a brillinat ploy to slow down things in the middle, helping India disrupt Heinrich Klaasen’s rythm which turned tide in India’s favour.

“When South Africa needed 30 runs off 30 balls, just before that, there was a small break. Pant used his intelligence to pause the game – he had a knee injury, so he had his knee taped, which helped slow down the game – because the game was fast-paced, and at that moment, all a batter wants is the ball to be bowled quickly. But we had to break the rhythm. As I was setting the field and talking to bowlers, suddenly I saw Pant fall on the ground. The physiotherapist had arrived and was taping his knee. Klassen was waiting for the match to start again. I am not saying it’s the only reason, but it could be one of them – Pant Sahab used his smarts and things worked out in our favour,” he said on the show.

After the break, Hardik Pandya dismissed the dangerous Heinrich Klaasen, paving the way for the Indian team to pull themselves back in the driving seat. Though David Miller also threatened to take the title away from the team, the pressure was on South Africa in the last 2-3 overs, and India capitalised on the situation.

That is what happened. Hardik dismissed Klaasen in that over, and from then onwards, pressure started to build on South Africa. Then all the boys gathered and started to sledge their batters, details of which I can’t disclose here, but it was essential because we had to win at any cost. To win that, we were willing to take a few fines. That is why I told the boys to say whatever they felt like; we would handle the umpires and referees later,” he explained.
