Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter Launch Today: Price, Specification, Features and More

Bajaj Chetak is all set to make a comeback in India. There is a major twist this time around. It will not be powered by the traditional internal combination engine, but an electric motor.

Bajaj Auto will launch the new Chetak electric scooter later in the day. The two-wheeler maker has plans to export it to the European markets along with selling it here in India.

Bajaj Auto India announced its entry into the electric vehicle business with the Chetak electric scooter. The Chetak will be the first electric two-wheeler to be introduced by a mainstream two-wheeler manufacturer in India, and will be the first product to be introduced under Bajaj Auto’s new electric vehicle (EV) vertical, to be called Urbanite.

Bajaj says that the battery life of the lithium-ion units on the Chetak is about 70,000 km, and was tested across different weather conditions, terrains, road surfaces and more.

Bajaj Auto has reintroduced the Chetak, though in an electric form, many would want to bring it home. In case you are planning to buy the new Bajaj Chetak electric scooter, here are some important details that you should know about it.

There are longer periods on offer though with Revolt Intellicorp offering a warranty period of five years/75,000 km, along with free maintenance benefits up to three years/30,000 km and a battery warranty of up to eight years/1.5 lakh km. The more comparable Ather Energy offers a battery life up to 50,000 km and comes with a three year/unlimited km warranty.

The new Chetak electric scooter comes with an IP67-rated lithium-ion battery, that has a 3-year/50,000 km warranty. Through a 5-15 amp electrical outlet, the battery can be charged fully in five hours and up to 25 per cent in an hour.

There is a single-sided cast aluminium swingarm as well. You will get 12-inch alloy wheels in the new Chetak. For performing the braking duties, there is a disc up front and drum at the rear. Also available is the regenerative braking system.

The scooter’s digital instrument console is surrounded by a satin chrome bezel. The LED headlamp is surrounded by horseshoe-shaped DRL. You will find LED turn indicators at the front, while the rear features sequential LED blinkers.
