Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter to be Launched on January 14

Bajaj will be launching the electric scooter on January 14 this year. The Indian brand’s first all-electric scooter, the Chetak is expected to be priced at about Rs 1-1.5 lakh (ex-showroom). As Bajaj MD Rajiv Bajaj said, the price will be attractive but not aggressive.

Bajaj Chetak scooter will be equipped with a 4kW electric motor. Powering the motor will be an IP67-rated lithium-ion battery and the customers will be able to charge it through a 5-15 amp electrical outlet.

Bajaj marked its re-entry in the scooter space after nearly two decades, as it stopped manufacturing scooters a long back to focus only on motorcycles. The Electric Chetak offers a driving range of 95 km in ECO mode and 85 km in SPORTS mode.

Bajaj will equip the Chetak e-scooter with features like ‘feather touch’ switchgear, full-LED lighting and digital console. In addition, the company has used high-quality materials on the mirror stalks, side stand and pillion foot pegs, further underlining its premium positioning.

The all-metal body of the Chetak electric scooter does not have Bajaj branding on it. The instrument console is digital. Among the other features are horseshoe-shaped LED headlight with DRLs, sequential scrolling LED blinkers and a mobile app to assist the rider.

The Chetak electric scooter from Bajaj has been spied several times in the past and gets a retro design with a round headlamp, alloy wheels, and single-side suspension set-up.

We are expecting Bajaj Chetak electric scooter to be available in the price range of Rs 90,000 (ex-showroom) and Rs 1.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
