In case you didn’t know, Threads has up until now only permitted users to remove their profiles in conjunction with their Instagram accounts. This resulted from a close synergy between Threads and Instagram that goes beyond user profiles, icons, and following.

The following procedures must be followed if you wish to remove your Threads account without also deleting your Instagram account since the service is currently rolling out:

Pre-requisites:

Latest version of Threads app
Active Threads account

How to Delete Threads without losing Instagram account

• Install the most recent version of the Threads app first, available from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
• Open the Threads app now, then select Settings.
• Search for the newly added “Delete or Deactivate Profile” option.
• Do note that the feature has just started rolling out and knowing Threads, it rolls out new features gradually. So it may take a while to reach all users. So, if you currently don’t see the new feature in your app, wait for a couple of days.
