Vodafone-Idea Loses Over 6.5 Million Subscribers During November 2018: COAI

Vodafone-Idea has continued its losing streak for the third consecutive month and the telecom operator lost over 6.5 million subscribers in Nov, COAI reported.

The report also revealed that Airtel added just over 100,000 subscribers during the same period. Total 1.02 billion in Nov 2018, however since the monthly figure the total Reliance Jio was not available for the month.

Bharti Airtel added just over a lakh new subscribers, which comes as a relief for the telco as it lost subscribers on a large number during Sept and Oct months.

In Sept and Oct, Bharti Airtel lost 2.3 million and 1.8 million customers respectively while Vodafone Idea lost over 6.6 million and 7.3 million customers during these two months.

Even though Vodafone Idea is the top telecom operator in the country right now, the continuous loss of subscribers by the company would be worrying for executives.

Jio’s Nov subscriber were not immediately available, however given that the Mukesh Ambani-led telo subscribers base in Oct stood at nearly 263 million on the back of 10.5 million customer additions, Experts believe the telco’s customer base will have easily topped the 270 million mark based on its current run rate.

The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) does not have captures the monthly subscriber figure of BSNL, MTNL, Tata and Reliance Communication. It shared subscriber base details of Relaince Jio infocom based on information available form the telecom regulator TRAI.
