WhatsApp has introduced a new feature in the recent and most topical one is the forwarded label that will be pasted on all the forwarded message. WhatsApp is working on a “Mute” button in the notification centre, users will be able to mute a chat without having to open the application. Some WhatsApp beta users have reported a new feature in the online messaging app, that allows them to mark message as read from the notification panel.

WA Beta info reports that WhatsApp ahas a new feature Mark as read for notification centre. Users can mark a message as read form the notification panel, without opening the app or the chat. As of now, we can see the notification panel only shows the reply shortcut button below a WhatsApp message, but a mark as read button will be available soon.

This feature was spotted in WhatsApp Beta version android 2.18.214, but users will not be able to see it, because this feature is still development stage.

WhatsApp is testing a mute feature as well, as the report days, users will be able to mute as chat directly from the notification panel, without opening the WhatsApp app. Notification panel might soon be updated with two new option , Mark as read and mute the feature are expected to be made available t beta testers soon.

It may be true that WhatsApp may drop one of the feature as there is space only for the one more option. But th mute chat option will be surely come in handy , probably more than Mark as Read option requires you to not just open the app, but long press the chat and look for the mute option.

In addition , WhatsApp is also testing Suspicious Link detection feature that will warn users of links leading to fake or alternative site a red label.
