The list of finalists for the ICC Player of the Tournament award is notably unavailable on the ICC website and social media accounts, but India TV has obtained it.

Virat Kohli:

Currently in exceptional form, India’s strong batting line has been steadied in large part by Virat Kohli. He struck an undefeated fifty-five against Afghanistan, 103 not out against Bangladesh, and 95 against New Zealand, demonstrating his prowess in the chasing game.

He was indispensable when India batted first in those contests. His 88 against Sri Lanka, his perfect 101 against South Africa, his 51 against the Netherlands, and his astounding 117 in the semi-final are among his noteworthy efforts. One may characterize this remarkable run as nothing less than a dream.

Rohit Sharma:

Rohit Sharma has been crucial in establishing the tone for the Men in Blue, delivering exciting starts in almost every game of the competition. Even though he only scored one century, his prolific innings have allowed other hitters to reach significant totals.

Rohit has amassed 550 runs in 10 matches at an impressive average of 55.00 and a striking rate of 124.15. His remarkable stats include one hundred, three fifties, along with 62 fours and 28 sixes.

Jasprit Bumrah:

Jasprit Bumrah is the cornerstone of the Indian bowling attack. With the ball, the Indian pacer has amassed 18 wickets in 10 innings, including a noteworthy 4-wicket haul.

He has an impressive bowling average of 18.33, a strike rate of 27.61, and an economy of 3.98.

Mohammed Shami:

Mohammed Shami has emerged as the leading wicket-taker with an impressive tally of 23 wickets in six matches. His notable performances include a five-wicket haul (5/54) against New Zealand in Dharamshala, 4/22 against England in Lucknow, 5/18 against Sri Lanka in Mumbai, 2/18 against South Africa in Kolkata, and a record-breaking 7/57 in the semi-final against the Kiwis in Mumbai.

New Zealand Cricketer Colin Munro Announces His Retirement From international Cricket

New Zealand Cricketer Colin Munro Announces His Retirement From international Cricket: New Zealand opener batsman Colin Munro has announced his retirement from international cricket. The aggressive batsman from New Zealand, who scored over 3000 runs in international cricket, has not played for the national side in the last four years; his last game was a Twenty20 international against India in 2020.

He begun his international career in Dec 2012, followed by ODI debut in the same month. While he only played one Test match in January 2013, he was predominantly recognized as a specialist in white-ball cricket.

He played in 123 matches in all forms for New Zealand during his career, scoring more over 3000 runs. Interestingly, Munro is the only batter from New Zealand to score three hundred in Twenty20 Internationals.

He was a member of the side that placed second in the ODI World Cup in 2019 and made contributions to the T20 World Cup squads in 2014 and 2016.

Munro has been focusing on franchise cricket worldwide and cited his absence from the 2024 T20 World Cup squad as the reason for his retirement.

“Playing for the BLACKCAPS has always been the biggest achievement in my playing career,” the 37-year-old said. “I never felt prouder than donning that jersey, and the fact that I’ve been able to do that 123 times across all formats is something I will always be incredibly proud of.”

“Although it has been a while since my last appearance, I never gave up hope that I might be able to return off the back of my franchise T20 form. With the announcement of the BLACKCAPS squad for the T20 World Cup now is the perfect time to close that chapter officially.”

“Colin was one of our first players to embrace the aggressive, 360-degree style batting that is now accepted all around the world as best practice,” he said. “He was one of the pioneers of the new game, an innovative batsman who took calculated risk-taking to a new level, and led what was to become a revolution in the way short-form cricket was played.”

“We thank him for his amazing contribution in more than 100 international games, and wish him well in his future pursuits.”
