ICC Released New Penalties for Slow Over-Rate
ICC Released New Penalties for Slow Over-Rate: A new method has been used by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to adjust the play speed. With effect from December 2023, all teams participating in the ODI and T20I formats will have 60 seconds to begin a new over under the revised rules.
The bowling team is usually the one who calls for beverages. And takes longer than necessary to set up the field, which causes the game to be delayed.

In order to stop that, the ICC has agreed to award the batting side five penalty runs. If the bowling team fails to begin the following over within sixty seconds three times in a row.
Following the ODI World Cup final, the decision was made in the ICC Board Meeting in Ahmedabad. According to Cricbuzz, it is probably going to be implemented experimentally from December to April of the next year.
The fielding team’s time will be controlled by a stop clock. And every time a breach occurs, the umpires will eventually alert the captain.

In addition, the board members have spoken about amending the rules governing pitch and outfield surveillance.
The international board has also made it clear that anyone who has experienced male puberty will not be permitted to play women’s cricket for reasons of safety, fairness, and protection.
Following a nine-month process of consultation with the game’s stakeholders, the decision was accepted. The procedure was headed by Dr. Peter Harcourt, the leader of the ICC Medical Advisory Committee.

“The new policy is based on the following principles (in order of priority), protection of the integrity of the women’s game, safety, fairness and inclusion, and this means any Male to Female participants who have been through any form of male puberty will not be eligible to participate in the international women’s game regardless of any surgery or gender reassignment treatment they may have undertaken,” ICC mentioned.

New Zealand Cricketer Colin Munro Announces His Retirement From international Cricket
New Zealand Cricketer Colin Munro Announces His Retirement From international Cricket: New Zealand opener batsman Colin Munro has announced his retirement from international cricket. The aggressive batsman from New Zealand, who scored over 3000 runs in international cricket, has not played for the national side in the last four years; his last game was a Twenty20 international against India in 2020.
He begun his international career in Dec 2012, followed by ODI debut in the same month. While he only played one Test match in January 2013, he was predominantly recognized as a specialist in white-ball cricket.

He played in 123 matches in all forms for New Zealand during his career, scoring more over 3000 runs. Interestingly, Munro is the only batter from New Zealand to score three hundred in Twenty20 Internationals.
He was a member of the side that placed second in the ODI World Cup in 2019 and made contributions to the T20 World Cup squads in 2014 and 2016.
Munro has been focusing on franchise cricket worldwide and cited his absence from the 2024 T20 World Cup squad as the reason for his retirement.

“Playing for the BLACKCAPS has always been the biggest achievement in my playing career,” the 37-year-old said. “I never felt prouder than donning that jersey, and the fact that I’ve been able to do that 123 times across all formats is something I will always be incredibly proud of.”
“Although it has been a while since my last appearance, I never gave up hope that I might be able to return off the back of my franchise T20 form. With the announcement of the BLACKCAPS squad for the T20 World Cup now is the perfect time to close that chapter officially.”

“Colin was one of our first players to embrace the aggressive, 360-degree style batting that is now accepted all around the world as best practice,” he said. “He was one of the pioneers of the new game, an innovative batsman who took calculated risk-taking to a new level, and led what was to become a revolution in the way short-form cricket was played.”
“We thank him for his amazing contribution in more than 100 international games, and wish him well in his future pursuits.”
