West Star Crickter Refuese Central Contracts before T20 WC: According to the nation’s cricket body, three elite West Indian players—Nicklas Pooran, Jason Holder, and Kyle Mayers—have unexpectedly declined to sign the central contracts.
The elite players will, however, be available for every West Indies T20I games throughout the contract year, according to the Windies cricket board.

The players who have been offered contracts are among those who we expect to feature, as we look to build towards challenging for the top spot when we host and compete in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 on home soil,” said West Indies selector Dr. Desmond Haynes.
“We also have away Test Series in Australia and England – these are two major assignments whilst in the 50-over format we look to build a nucleus of players aimed towards the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027,” he added.

The West Indies have performed poorly and failed to live up to public expectations for the last two to three years. The squad also missed out on qualification for the most recent 2023 ODI World Cup and the 2022 T20 World Cup. Next June, West Indies and the United States of America will share co-hosting duties for the T20 World Cup.
