BCCI Confirms Host of IPL 2024 Tournament’s 17th Season to Take Place in: After the conclusion of last month’s IPL 2024 auction in Dubai, teams have carefully adjusted their lineups. Indian Premier League (IPL) is expected to happen in India despite the country’s impending elections, a BCCI insider confirms, with March 22 being the expected start date.
The BCCI source stated that the IPL will take place in India, even though the general election dates are anticipated to be released at the same time. The insider elaborated, saying that since the general election is on the same day, there are no plans to shift the event elsewhere. If any state has valid reasons not to host matches during that time, the games could be shifted to alternative venues,” as mentioned to ANI.
Following the IPL 2024 auction, clubs have refined their rosters. A historic event occurred when Australia’s Mitchell Starc, acquired by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs24.75 crore, becoming the most expensive player in the tournament’s history. In addition, there was a noticeable 57% increase in viewership for the IPL 2024 sale over the previous auction.
According to BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, the IPL auction attracted a significant 22.8 million viewers, exceeding the numbers from the 2022 sale. MS Dhoni is guiding the Chennai Super Kings, the five-time winners, as they prepare to defend their crown.
CEO Kasi Viswanathan stated, “He has recovered well from his knee injury, undergoing rehab programs and has commenced training,” expressing optimism in Dhoni’s comeback. I’m sure he’ll be ready to go when the next Indian Premier League kicks off.” With teams like Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Titans, Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals, and Sunrisers Hyderabad having confirmed their squads, fans are eager to see how IPL 2024 plays out.
