Royal Challengers Bangalore get New Name Ahead of IPL 2024: Before the 2024 Indian Premier League, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have formally changed their team name to ‘Royal Challengers Bengaluru.’ The Bengaluru-based franchise unveiled their new name and logo during the RCB Unbox event at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
RCB women’s team skipper Smriti Mandhana, men’s team skipper Faf du Plessis, and Virat Kohli unveiled the new name of the franchise.
With its women’s team earning its first-ever WPL title on Sunday, RCB has been capturing hearts online lately. The team captained by Smriti Mandhana was victorious in the WPL this year, defeating the Delhi Capitals by an innings in the Arun Jaitley Stadium finale.
The team’s incredible victory also put an end to the franchise’s 16-year trophy drought. With this victory, the women’s team has inspired pride in the franchise and among supporters, while the RCB men’s squad has yet to make Indian Premier League history.
Although RCB has been a part of IPL since its inaugural season in 2008, they are yet to win the coveted trophy.
On Friday (March 22), RCB will take on MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings in the opening match of IPL 2024 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
