Salt’s stunning century against the West Indies in a Twenty20 International yesterday (16 December) served as a timely reminder of his potential to all IPL clubs. At the IPL 2024 auction, his base price is set at Rs. 1.50 crore.

Here is a look at three teams that could target Salt in the auction that will take place on 19 December.

Kolkata Knight Riders:

In front of the IPL 2024 auction, KKR has released a few top-order batsmen: Mandeep Singh, Johnson Charles, and Litton Das. They could set their sights on Salt at the auction. In addition to their batting prowess, players like Das and Charles gave KKR options for wicket-keeping.

Salt occasionally keeps wickets and provides an extra dimension to KKR in the unlikely event of injury or loss of form of Rahmanullah Gurbaz.

Punjab Kings:

Two top-order foreign players have been released by the Shikhar Dhawan-led team ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. Among the aforementioned casualties were Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Matthew Short.

Salt may be the ideal addition to the Punjab Kings lineup, and Dhawan, Salt, and Jonny Bairstow as the top three could be very formidable.

Rajasthan Royals:

Another squad that may place a bid for Salt in the IPL 2024 auction is RR. As a key member of the RR squad, Jos Buttler may choose to start his compatriot at the top of the batting order in the 2024 IPL.

In Twenty20 Internationals, England’s Salt and Buttler have batted brilliantly, destroying several bowling combinations, particularly during power-play overs.

Joe Root was released by RR before to the auction. And it’s possible that they are looking for a top-order foreign batsman.
