Drawing from his own experience, he noted that any player with the skill and determination can excel in that role, emphasizing that natural positions aren’t predetermined.

Citing the examples of himself and Sachin Tendulkar, who transformed their batting positions at different stages of their careers, Ganguly pointed out that adaptability and talent are paramount.

He said “It’s a very strong team. Bumrah is back, which makes the team even stronger. The bowling attack is very good – Shami, Bumrah, Siraj. You can’t get a better fast bowling attack. And the spin, Jadeja, the wrist spinner. Top batters. India is a fantastic side, who just have to turn up and play good, determined cricket during the Asia Cup and the World Cup.”

In cricket, the position of number 4 batsman is not that important. Anyone can fill that role. Even when I used to play, I didn’t believe that someone is naturally born to bat at a specific position. I started batting in the middle order and then moved to opening because I was asked to do so by the captain at that time, Sachin. The same thing happened with Sachin. He used to bat at number 6 until his captain asked him to open, and he became a great player.

So, anybody can play at number 4, you know? There is Virat Kohli who can bat at number 4, there is Shreyas Iyer, once he does well in the Asia Cup.

There’s KL Rahul. India has enormous talent. I keep hearing that we don’t have this, we don’t have that, we have too much, that’s the problem, that you can’t decide. See, when you have too many homes to stay, you can’t decide which one is more comfortable for you.

If you have one, you know that’s the place I can stay. So, I think number 4 is what Rahul and the selectors and Rohit need to do; decide that this is my number 4 and I will continue with him till the World Cup. One batting slot does not make much of a difference.”

Indian Skipper Rohit Sharma Reveals How Rishabh Pant's Tactics Helped India Win T20 World Cup

Indian Skipper Rohit Sharma Reveals How Rishabh Pant’s Tactics Helped India to Win T20 World Cup: Rohit Sharma has now revealed that Rishabh Pant’s tactics played a big role in India’s win, explain in the Kapil Sharma Show.

T20 World Cup 2024 final is still fresh in the minds of cricketing fans. If we talk about Surya’s catch, Bumrah’s Death bowling, or King Kohli’s half-century.

There are many factors that helped India beat South Africa in the final match.

Rohit revealed that wicket-keeper batsment Rishabh Pant thought of a brillinat ploy to slow down things in the middle, helping India disrupt Heinrich Klaasen’s rythm which turned tide in India’s favour.

“When South Africa needed 30 runs off 30 balls, just before that, there was a small break. Pant used his intelligence to pause the game – he had a knee injury, so he had his knee taped, which helped slow down the game – because the game was fast-paced, and at that moment, all a batter wants is the ball to be bowled quickly. But we had to break the rhythm. As I was setting the field and talking to bowlers, suddenly I saw Pant fall on the ground. The physiotherapist had arrived and was taping his knee. Klassen was waiting for the match to start again. I am not saying it’s the only reason, but it could be one of them – Pant Sahab used his smarts and things worked out in our favour,” he said on the show.

After the break, Hardik Pandya dismissed the dangerous Heinrich Klaasen, paving the way for the Indian team to pull themselves back in the driving seat. Though David Miller also threatened to take the title away from the team, the pressure was on South Africa in the last 2-3 overs, and India capitalised on the situation.

That is what happened. Hardik dismissed Klaasen in that over, and from then onwards, pressure started to build on South Africa. Then all the boys gathered and started to sledge their batters, details of which I can’t disclose here, but it was essential because we had to win at any cost. To win that, we were willing to take a few fines. That is why I told the boys to say whatever they felt like; we would handle the umpires and referees later,” he explained.
