While Jasprit Bumrah and Rohit are expected to remain in the team for the event despite missing the Australia and South Africa series, Kohli may not be.

This is according to a report in Dainik Jagran. Though he has a strong track record in T20I and the IPL, the board may just be considering a different middle-order option.

According to the Jagran report, an official from the BCCI informed the newspaper that Ishan Kishan may be selected in the middle order since they are seeking a batsman who can attack from the outset. The insider said that Kohli’s IPL 2024 performances would also be taken into consideration; however, he might not be able to play when he opens for his team, the RCB. The opening spaces, however, appear to be mostly empty.

The official also added that Kohli will be consulted about his future before any decision is made.
