Shakib Al Hasan Ruled Out of Cricket World Cup: Shakib Al Hasan, the captain of the Bangladeshi cricket team, will not be playing in the Cricket World Cup after getting hurt on Monday during BAN versus SL.
After the game, an X-ray revealed a fracture, ruling him out of the BAN vs. AUS match in Pune on November 11.
“Shakib was struck on his left index finger early in his innings but continued to bat with supportive taping and painkillers,” he said.
“After the game, he had an emergency X-ray in Delhi, which verified the left PIP joint fracture. Three to four weeks is the predicted time of recovery. He’s going to start his rehabilitation today and head to Bangladesh.
Bangladesh are currently 8th on the points table and a win against Australia will ensure their qualification for the ICC tournament.
The Tigers’ already disastrous run in the tournament was marred with controversies. The recent one came on Monday in the game against Sri Lanka when Sri Lankan batter Angelo Mathews was given ‘timed out’ in the game after team’s appeal.
“Absolutely disgraceful. We all play to win but I never thought a team or player would stoop to such levels to get a wicket,” Mathews told the media after the game.
“I have no regrets. I have been playing against Angelo since our U-19 days. It was 2006 when we played against each other for the first time. What happened was unfortunate for him, but rules are rules,” he said.
