Shubman Gill out? Ishan Kishan Will Open with Rohit Sharma Against Australia: Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma are likely to start the batting in the 2023 ODI World Cup match between India and Australia (IND vs AUS). Concerns about Shubman Gill’s health have increased for the Indian squad before their World Cup opener against Australia. The batsman is reportedly a doubtful starter for the game on Sunday.
Shubman Gill, India’s most dangerous ODI batter in recent times, is claimed suffering a high fever and will have a dengue test on Friday before a decision is taken.
Shubman Gill has been sick since arriving in Chennai. A BCCI source with knowledge of squad affairs informed PTI on the condition of anonymity that star India opener will undergo tests on Friday.
According to reports, Gill is undergoing a dengue test; if positive, he could have to miss a few matches.
Patients with dengue can take anywhere between 7 and 10 days to fully recover physically and be ready to resume routine activities.
Gill (24) was understandably unable to participate in the Indian team’s Thursday practices, which has given truth to reports regarding Rohit Sharma’s opening partner in the match against Australia. The duty might be given to KL Rahul or Ishan Kishan.
Rahul may not be asked to take over the role of opener given that he is now India’s middle order batter and wicketkeeper, according to captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid.
Ishan Kishan will be the best option to start the innings in that circumstance. Not to mention, Kishan has already performed the necessary duties when he started the West Indies innings.
