Asia Cup 2023 India will face Pakistan in Dambulla: PCB and BCCI agreed to hybrid model to complete schedule of Asia Cup 2023. The most awaiting match could be played at Dambulla in Sri Lanka.

The rivalary match are set to face each other two times. And if India and Pakistan qualify for the Asia Cup Finals.

If the teams qualify for the final, there could be a 3rd game at that venue. After a lot of deliberation, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and PCB Chief Zaka Ashraf met in Durban to discuss the upcoming schedule of the Continental tournament and zeroed in on Sri Lanka as a venue.

“It’s a good beginning, and there will be more meetings like this,” Ashraf told Pakistan media. “We have agreed to have more meetings and improve relations. It’s a good beginning,” the PCB chief added.

Before the mega clash on October 15 in ICC ODI World Cup, India, and Pakistan will get to warm up by playing two Asia Cup games. With BCCI and PCB burying the hatchets and proceeding with the Continental Cup fans are set for an epic showdown.

Earlier, PCB chief Najam Sethi had no obligation in the hybrid model. But things went downhill after Ashraf took charge as the new PCB chief.

Ashraf did not the like idea of playing only four games in Pakistan and the remaining nine matches in Sri Lanka during the Asia Cup. However, both parties have now sorted the matter and have agreed to hybrid model. Asia Cup is set to start on August 31 to September 17, with six teams participating.

“The welcome was fantastic at the (Hyderabad) airport and also a lot of people have been thronging the team hotel and hospitality wise it’s been really good,” Shadab Khan said.

“The food has been really tasty and the support staff (all South Africans) are worried that we end up increasing our fat percentage (laughs). Hope, we get the same love in Ahmedabad where we play India (laughs),” he added.

After losing their first World Cup warm-up game against New Zealand, Pakistan will be taking on Australia in their final warm-up game on Tuesday, October 3. Furthermore, they will begin their World Cup campaign by taking on the Netherlands on Friday, October 6.
