Cricket World Cup 2019: Pakistan beat South Africa by 49 runs, RSA out of the Race

 

ICC Cricket World Cup match 30: Paskitan cricket kept their slender hopes of making semifinals while knocking South Africa out of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 with 49 runs at Lords. Wahab Riaz and Shadab Khan picked up three wickets each after an impressive 89 runs knock by Haris Sohail.

Pakistan started batting first, a brilliant start as both openers Imam and F Zaman scored identical knocks of 44. Babar Azam scored 69 runs, M Hafeez was trapped LBW for 20 runs by A Markram in the 42nd over.


Pakistan posted 308 for seven with Haris Sohail scored 89 runs being the highlighted innings. South African team stopped at 259/9 runs for 50 overs. Opener Hashim Amla for one in the second over, Quinton de Kock’s 47, Faf du Plessis’63 and an unbeaten knock of 46 by Andile Phehlukwaye.

South Africa are out of the tournament while Pakistan could have chance for semifinals. For just the second time in the their history, South Africa will fail to reach the Cricket World Cup knockout stages.

Haris Sohail(Man of the match): It is tough when you are sitting out and waiting for your turn. My goal was to make the most of my opportunities. When I went in, I was told I have to build a partnership with Babar, but it was not easy out there, Just backed myself, reported by Money Control.

With that loss, South Africa are out of #CWC19 semi-final contention
