Hashim Amla retires from all form of International Cricket

South African batsman Hashim Amla has retired from all forms of International Cricket with immediate effect, bringing down the curtains on a stellar 15 year career that he termed an incredible ride. 15 years ago now that Hashim Amla welcomed this reported into the world they share in distinctly separate compartments, despite the fact that they are from the same country.
Hashim Amla said in a statement, Firstly all glory and thanks to the Almighty for granting me this Proteas journey which has been nothing but a joy and privilege. I learnt many lessons during this incredible ride, made many friends and most importantly shared in the love of brotherhood called Pretea Fire.

He added, i would like to thank my parents for their prayers, love and support. It is their shadow over me that enables me to play for years under the Protea sun.
In a career spanning 348 international games, Amla aggregated 18,672 runs including 55 centuries and 88 other scores in excess of 50. He has made the only triple hundred by a South African in Test cricket and remains the quickest batsman in the world to reach the landmak of 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000 and 7000 ODI runs.
Amla is the Proteas’ second highest Test run scorer with 9,282 runs in 124 matches at an average of 46.64 with 28 centuries. He scored 27 ODI centuries , and scored 8,113 runs at an average of 49.46 in the format.
Captaincy is not Amla’s thing, probably because he is too sensitive to the feelings and fears of his teammates. He tried it, realised his error and did the right thing by relinquishing the reins early enough in the piece for the misstep to not be used against him.
