Intel will not be supplying Apple with radio chips in future release, as report claims with chip producer said to stopped development of the parts that have enable 5G cellular communication on an upcoming smartphone. Apple has reportedly Intel of its decision to not use its modem in Next- generation iPhone model, internal Intel communication and sources familiar with the matter advised to CTech.

Affects in iPhone that will be launch in 2020, with a latest report from Calcalist claiming that Cupertnio company has notified Intel that will not be using chipmaker’s upcoming Wi-Fi and Bluethooth.


The report also stats that Intel has stopped the production of the modem with codename “Sunny Peak” as Apple was biggest customers for these products. The report also claims that all the product developer that were working on the project have been shifted other team.


Intel on the other hand, described that Apple as its as the “Key Mobile Customer” for 5G mobile modem in its communication . also expected Apple to be the main volume driver for the product.


Intel’s 5G customer engagement and roadmap have not changed for 2018 through 2020. We remain committed to our 5G plans and projects, an Intel spokesperson told Mashable.


If Apple were not include andy 5G intel chip in future iPhones, it would be seriously hurt the chipmaker’s inroads in the mobile space. Currently supplies baseband modems for some iPhone GSM Model , Qualcomm supplies wireless modem for iPhone with CDMA radios.


As Apple is in an ongoing legal battle with Qualcomm over royalties, there are relatively few alternative options for Apple to move forward if it intends to support 5G in its future iPhone. Apple has one option could be MediaTek, which recently unveiled a new 5G modem chipest and is said to be trying to supply Wi-Fi chips for Homepad as stepping towards.
