Remove all China Apps crosses 50 Lakh Downloads; How to Use

As the anti-China sentiment grows in India over a border dispute, an Android app that claims to identify China-made apps on your smartphone, has gone viral.

The application, developed by OneTouchAppLabs, based in Jaipur, identifies all China-made apps in a user’s phone and provides a simple UI to remove them.

This development comes at a time when anti-China sentiment is high in the country, sparked by the novel coronavirus pandemic, India-China border dispute, and more.

Another app playing on similar sentiments – Mitron – has also gained traction over the last several days and is being touted as an alternate to TikTok.

The creators of the Remove China Apps claim that the app is “developed for educational purposes” and it allows users to “identify” the country of origin of certain apps installed on their Android phones.

The app does not require a login to a function and users can simply select “scan” to identify the Chinese apps on their Android phones.

The Remove China Apps only seems to be detecting the apps installed by users from Google Play Store or other third-party app stores on their phones, and not the ones pre-installed on Chinese smartphone makers.

How to remove Chinese apps from your phone

Download and install “Remove China Apps” from Google Play Store.
Open “Remove China Apps”.
Tap on “Scan Now” to find Chinese apps installed on your Android phone.
The app will scan the installed apps on your phone and list the Chinese apps that it finds.
If you want to remove any of the listed apps, tap the “Delete” icon next to the app’s name.
“Remove China Apps” will then delete the app from phone.
